The Place's 11th Annual Holiday House Brings Dignity and Joy to Local Families

Cumming, GA (November 2025) - The Place is celebrating the season of giving with its 11th Annual Holiday House, a cherished program that empowers parents and guardians facing financial hardship to personally select new gifts for their children, bringing dignity, joy, and hope to hundreds of families across Forsyth County.

Unlike traditional toy drives or giveaways, Holiday House uses a client-choice model that transforms the gift-giving experience. Families shop for their children in age-specific "toy shops" filled with community-donated toys, specialty items, and $25 gift cards (Target, Amazon, Ulta). Volunteers help them shop for the presents and prepare for the holidays, allowing parents to give gifts with love and pride.

"This event is truly special because it restores a sense of normalcy and dignity to families during a stressful time," said Paige Whalen, Director of Client Assistance at The Place. "Parents know their children best, what they like, what they need, and at Holiday House, they get to make those choices themselves. The impact goes far beyond the gifts."

In 2024, over 2,000 children received gifts through Holiday House, thanks to the generosity of sponsors, toy drives, and community volunteers. With requests for help continuing to rise this year, The Place expects even more families to register for assistance.

The Place is now seeking toy donations, $25 gift cards, event sponsors, and volunteers to help stock and staff Holiday House. New, unwrapped toys for children of all ages, especially teens, can be donated through December 5 at designated drop-off sites, or directly through give.theplacega.org/HolidayHouse or by visiting our Amazon wish list at https://linktr.ee/theplacega.hh

Businesses and organizations can also get involved by hosting toy drives, becoming sponsors, or volunteering during the event, which takes place December 10-13. Sponsorship opportunities start at $750, with all proceeds helping The Place purchase remaining toys and supplies needed to meet the growing demand.

"Our community's support makes Holiday House possible," added Whalen. "Every donation, every volunteer hour, every sponsor helps us create a season of joy - not just for children, but for their parents who get to experience the magic of giving."
