February Newsletter for The Place

What does real, lasting change look like?

In our newest podcast episode, we sit down with Meghan Livingston, our Case Management Manager at The Place, to talk about our Long-Term Case Management Program. This powerful program is made possible through a state grant and the generous support of community donors and partners like you.

Through this program, we walk closely with families for an extended period of time as they work toward self-sustainability. Participants commit to meeting one-on-one with staff and attending adult education classes, including financial literacy classes. Together, we create a plan for stability. Along the way, we can help with rent, deposits, utilities, and other urgent expenses, removing barriers while families build the skills and confidence they need for long-term success.

This is not just short-term assistance. This is relationship-based support that helps families stay housed, grow stronger, and move forward with hope.

Right now, you can help make this life-changing work possible through our Have a Heart for Our Community matching gift campaign through the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia. Every gift brings us closer to unlocking our matching grant to increase your impact. Your support helps keep neighbors in homes while they work toward a stable future.

Will you have a heart for our community today?

Give now and help families build lasting stability.

Congratulations to the newest graduates of our Consumer Mastermind Financial Literacy Class at The Place!

In partnership with Pinnacle Financial Partners, these graduates spent four weeks strengthening their money mindset, building a working budget, learning to save with purpose, and using credit wisely.

We are so proud of you for investing in your financial education and taking an important step toward self-sustainability.

We had an exciting day in our English as a Second Language (ESL) class!

Scott from the Forsyth County School Board’s HR team joined us as a guest speaker, giving students the opportunity to practice their English in a formal, real-world setting.

Each student participated in a mock interview, building confidence, improving communication skills, and learning how to present themselves professionally.

Scott also shared information about job opportunities in schools throughout the county, helping students see new possibilities for their future.

We’re excited to launch a brand-new way to serve:

The Place Meal Makers!

This opportunity is open to everyone, even if you’ve never volunteered with us before. If you have a heart for cooking and want to bless others with a homemade meal, this is for you.

Meal Makers can support several of our programs, including Adult Education students, Homebound Seniors, Orange Duffle Bag Initiative (ODBI) students, and Food Pantry clients.

Once you sign up, we’ll connect with you to share more about each program and help you find the perfect fit.

Help us spread the word and invite the cooks and bakers in your life to turn their passion into impact!

Needs and More

Gift of Prom

Our Gift of Prom program helps students who may not otherwise attend experience this special night. We provide everything they need, from outfits to tickets, transportation, and a meal.

Prom is more than a dance, it’s a chance to feel confident and included.

Because of this support, students can focus on having fun, making memories, and feeling like they belong.

You are invited to be a part of this event! Thank you to our community to making this possible!
