The Place Hosts "Heartsgiving" to Support Local Families in Need
Cumming, GA (October 24, 2025) - This November, The Place will host its first-ever Heartsgiving, a special event bringing warmth, food, and hope to families in need across Forsyth and Dawson counties.
Taking place November 18-20 in Forsyth County and November 20-21 in Dawson County, Heartsgiving will serve more than 450 families who receive assistance through The Place's Food Pantry. Each family will be able to select one coat per family member, receive a turkey, a box of food to complete their holiday meal, and a $25 gift card to help make their Thanksgiving brighter.
"This time of year can be especially hard for families already struggling to make ends meet," said Nicole Morgan, Director of Development The Place. "Heartsgiving is about more than just food and coats, it's about letting our neighbors know they are not alone. Together, we can make sure every family has a reason to give thanks."
The Place is inviting the community to join in spreading the spirit of giving through donations, sponsorships, and volunteer opportunities. The organization is currently collecting whole turkeys or turkey breasts, new or gently used coats, and monetary donations to help purchase food and supplies. Sponsors are also needed to help cover event expenses, and volunteers are welcome to help keep coats organized and racks full during the event.
Heartsgiving is made possible through community support and partnerships, including the PWB Joy of Hope Foundation.
"As the need continues to grow, so does our commitment to serve," added Morgan. "We've seen an increase in requests for help this year, and we're counting on our community's generosity to meet that need."
