August 2026 Newsletter for The Place

Welcome to The Cottage!

A Place to Call Home. A Future to Call Her Own.

The Cottage was created for goal-oriented young women ages 18–24 who are experiencing housing instability, young women who have dreams for their future and are ready to work toward them, but may need a safe and stable place to begin.

At The Cottage, a safe home is just the beginning. Residents are supported as they pursue education, build careers, develop life skills, and work toward becoming independent and self-sufficient. And success looks different for every young woman. Sometimes it looks like starting a new job. Sometimes it's learning a new skill, preparing for independent living, or simply having a safe place to come home to at the end of the day.

And sometimes, it looks like walking across a stage to receive a college diploma.

On May 14, 2026, we had the incredible privilege of celebrating M as she graduated from the University of North Georgia with her bachelor's degree in Pre-Law, one full year ahead of schedule!

M has been part of The Cottage since high school, and watching her grow into the determined, intelligent, and resilient young woman she is today has been one of the great joys of this program.

Her graduation was more than an academic accomplishment. It was a celebration of how far she has come and the bright future ahead of her.

And M isn't the only one moving forward.

This summer, one Cottage resident began a teaching position with the Alliance Theatre and earned her Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification. Another is returning to work with Northside Hospital, while others continue to thrive in their careers and take important steps toward independence.

This is what The Cottage makes possible.

A safe and stable home gives these young women the space to focus on their goals, build confidence, develop life skills, and prepare for the future they want.

And you can help make that future possible.

When you support The Cottage, you're not simply helping provide a place to live. You're helping create the stability that allows a young woman to stay in school, pursue a career, learn to live independently, and believe in what comes next.

You might be helping provide the essentials that make a new room feel like home. You might be supporting the resources that help a resident reach her next goal. Or you might simply be part of the community standing behind her and reminding her that she doesn't have to build her future alone.

Your support helps turn a safe place to stay into a place to grow, achieve, and begin a new chapter.

Help us continue investing in the young women of The Cottage and the futures they are working so hard to build.

This month on Facebook and Instagram we took you on a behind the scenes tour of The Cottage. We invite you to go check those out there or on our YouTube page!

Volunteer Corner

The North Atlanta Men’s Club has made volunteering at The Place a regular part of their routine! Every other week, they spend time hanging clothes at our Thrift Store and before they get to work, they gather for lunch together.

We’re grateful for their continued commitment, hard work, and the fellowship they bring with them each time they volunteer. Thank you for being part of The Place!
