The Cottage: A Place to Find Stability, Build Confidence, and Create a Brighter Future

Every young woman deserves a safe place to call home. A place where she can feel supported, discover her strengths, set goals, and build a future she can be proud of. That is the heart behind The Cottage at The Place. The Cottage is a residence for goal-oriented young women ages 18–24 who are experiencing housing instability. More than simply providing a roof over someone’s head, The Cottage provides a safe, stable, and supportive home environment where young women can focus on what comes next.

Creating a Foundation for Independence

For a young woman experiencing housing instability, simply having a safe place to sleep can make an incredible difference. Stability creates an opportunity to focus on education, employment, personal goals, and the skills needed to live independently. At The Cottage, young women are encouraged to take ownership of their futures. With support and guidance, residents can develop the confidence and life skills they need to navigate adulthood and work toward self-sufficiency.

The goal is simple but powerful: to develop and empower confident, independent, self-sufficient young women.

More Than a Home

The Cottage is designed to be a place where young women feel safe, valued, and supported. It provides an environment where residents can establish routines, pursue their goals, and begin building the foundation for long-term stability.

What does that look like?

  • Continuing their education

  • Employment

  • Learning to manage finances

  • Developing healthy relationships

  • Preparing for independent living

Under the guidance of a Case Management Manager and a Houseparent, these young women are given the tools they need to succeed.

“To me, The Cottage means a safe and long-term home. It provides me with the comfort I need to achieve my academic and professionals’ goals which allows me to build financial stability. The Cottage is more than a shelter; it is an opportunity to imagine and create the life you want. The loving and supportive people from The Cottage have helped me in more ways than any other assistance program, so I am grateful to call The Cottage my home,” – a Cottage resident.

How the Community Can Make a Difference

Programs like The Cottage are possible because of a community that believes every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive. Your support can help provide the resources, stability, and encouragement young women need as they work toward independence. Whether through a financial donation, providing needed supplies, or simply spreading the word about The Cottage, you can be part of creating brighter futures. Together, we can help ensure that young women experiencing housing instability don't have to navigate the journey alone.

The Cottage is more than a place to live. It is a place to grow, a place to dream, and a place to build a future.

At The Place, we believe in empowering young women to become confident, independent, and self-sufficient.  We're grateful to have a community that believes in them, too.
