Summer Hunger Is Real. Together, We Can Make a Difference
Summer is a season of sunshine, family vacations, and children enjoying a well-deserved break from school. But for many families in our community, summer also brings a difficult reality: when school is out, access to regular, nutritious meals becomes much harder.
For many children, school breakfast and lunch programs provide consistent, healthy meals during the school year. Children can miss up to 10 meals per week during the summer months. When those meals are no longer available, parents and caregivers are left trying to stretch already limited grocery budgets to cover additional meals every day.
At The Place, we see this need firsthand. Throughout the summer, more families turn to our pantry for help because they simply need a little extra support to keep healthy food on the table.
Every child deserves a summer filled with fun, friendships, and opportunities to grow - not the uncertainty of wondering where their next meal will come from.
That's why our mission doesn't take a summer vacation.
Every week, generous donors, dedicated volunteers, and caring community partners help us provide food to children, families, seniors, and neighbors facing food insecurity. Their kindness allows us to offer hope along with every bag of groceries distributed.
But we can't do it alone.
You Can Help Feed Kids This Summer
Whether you're making your first donation or have supported our pantry for years, your generosity makes a meaningful difference.
Here are a few ways you can help:
Donate healthy, unopened, and non-expired food items that children and families can enjoy throughout the summer. Check our current food pantry needs list for what we currently need most!
Make a financial gift. Monetary donations allow us to purchase fresh produce, dairy products, protein, and other essential foods where they're needed most.
Volunteer your time. From sorting donations to stocking shelves and assisting families, every volunteer helps us serve more neighbors with dignity and care.
Spread the word. Share our mission with friends, family, coworkers, and your social networks. You can find us on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok.
Every Meal Matters
A meal is more than food on a plate. It gives a child energy to play, learn, and grow. It offers parents relief during financially challenging times. It reminds families that their community cares.
This summer, you can help ensure that no child misses a meal simply because school is out.
Thank you for supporting The Place and helping us support families all summer long.
Because hunger doesn't take summer break. And neither do we.
